Prof. Mirosława El Fray
Prof. Mirosława El Fray - Head of the Department of Polymer and Biomaterials Engineering at ZUT in Szczecin and Director of the Nanotechnology Teaching and Research Centre. She obtained her PhD at the Szczecin University of Technology (1996) and completed a 3-year postdoctoral training at the University of Bayreuth (Germany). In 2004, she was awarded a postdoctoral degree at the Warsaw University of Technology. She is a Fellow of The Royal Society (Imperial College London, UK) and the Polish-American Fulbright Commission (The Ohio State University, USA). She has completed a number of projects in collaboration with companies such as DePuy Johnson & Johnson (UK), Cargill (NL), Philips (NL). She has managed 15 research projects and is currently the coordinator of the GREEN-MAP project funded by the H2020 programme. She is CEO of PolTiss sp. z o.o., a spin off company developing the innovative PhotoBioCure technology for medical applications. Author of more than 150 indexed publications and 9 granted patents. She has promoted 10 PhDs, 54 MSc students and 24 engineers. Prof El Fray's research interests include the synthesis, characterisation, biodegradation and modification of polymers for biomedical applications.
