Dr. Magdalena Wdowin, prof. of the institute

Deputy Director of the Institute for Scientific Affairs, Institute of Mineral Raw Materials and Energy Management - Polish Academy of Sciences

Graduate of the Faculty of Geology, Geophysics and Environmental Protection of the AGH University of Science and Technology. Since 2007, she has been employed at the Institute of Mineral Raw Materials and Energy Management of the Polish Academy of Sciences, where she is Head of the Laboratory of Confined Geochemistry and Environmental Engineering, and since 2021 she has also served as Deputy Director of the Institute for Scientific Affairs. For years, she has been working on waste management issues in the energy sector, developing sorbents for both CO2 and Hg flue gas cleaning and hydrogen storage. In this area, she was the manager of the award-winning LIDER project entitled "Application of energy waste materials for the capture of gaseous forms of mercury from flue gases." In the area of CO2 capture and hydrogen storage, her achievements also include coordination and management of international projects, working with entities such as the University of Nottingham, UK, and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research in Pretoria, South Africa. For her activities in the circular economy area, she has been awarded more than once by the Intelligent Development Forum and the European Center for Economic Development, among others. She is currently involved in the management and implementation of 3 foreign and 3 domestic projects.
