Dr. Magdalena Chechlińska, Professor of the Institute of Medical Sciences

Head, Department of Cancer Biology, Maria Sklodowska-Curie National Cancer Institute - National Research Institute

Magdalena Chechlinska, MD, PhD, heads the Department of Cancer Biology at the M. Sklodowska-Curie National Institute of Oncology - PIB, in Warsaw. She has published dozens of papers, mainly on the tumor microenvironment and biomarkers.

She has carried out 10 projects, and is currently leading the task package of a Horizon Europe-funded project on WHO cancer classification.

She is an editor, including editor-in-chief, of 3 international English-language journals.

She is a member of the Scientific Council of the Maria Sklodowska-Curie National Cancer Institute, chairman of the Scientific Council of the Children's Health Center, and a member of the presidium of the Council of General Research Institutes. She actively participates in the education of physicians and in the popularization of science.

She is a laureate of the Jędrzej Śniadecki Team Scientific Award of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the highest honor of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, awarded for the most outstanding results contributing to the development of medical science.
